Autodesk has released Autodesk Remote: a free tool enabling users to drive any Autodesk product* from a remote computer or – if you use Inventor – from an iPad, proving “full desktop access to all your programs and files”.
There are a few caveats: the main one being that it’s only available to users on subscription contracts.
You’ll also need to be running Windows 7 or 8 – no Mac version yet – and have a 4G/LTE wireless connection or a wired connection with an upload speed of 2Mbps or better. So far, there’s only an English-language edition.
But if you meet those conditions, it sounds a handy tool for working remotely, and one that Autodesk claims “encodes data faster than traditional remote-control solutions”. More details in the FAQs below.
