Chaos Group V-Ray Next for Sketchup is Now Available

What’s new in Chaos Group V-Ray Next for Sketchup?

Compatible with SketchUp 2019

Streamlined workflow

  • Powerful asset management – Streamline your workflow and keep track of your entire scene quickly and easily with the new and improved asset management tools in V-Ray Next for SketchUp. You can now search, select and preview assets — including full material setups — all from one location.
  • Deep SketchUp connection – In addition to rendering, V-Ray Next for SketchUp adds new and improved tools to help you manage your scene, customize your viewport styles, and import V-Ray scenes from other 3D applications. And to expand your toolkit further, it includes improved network rendering and a new V-Ray toolbar to make it easy to access all your favorite tools.
  • Efficient render control – The new intuitive camera settings make it easy to render your next masterpiece with V-Ray Next for SketchUp. The updated layout for the camera controls let you manipulate the quick and advanced parameters at the same time. You can now specify custom pixel resolutions without bothering with the aspect ratio.
  • New materials and textures – Now in V-Ray Next for SketchUp, the standard V-Ray Material is compatible with PBR metallic reflections that are popular in game engines and other tools such as Substance Designer. And for even greater control, you can also remap the RGB or HSV values of any texture.

Scene Intelligence

  • Automatic exposure and white balance – With the new Automatic Exposure option, V-Ray now uses adaptive learning techniques to help you render a perfectly exposed image each time. You can also rely on the new Automatic White Balance feature to automatically remove any warm or cold light tint coming from the sun or skylight.
  • Adaptive Dome Light – Adaptive Dome Light can automatically increase your render speed up to 7x faster depending on the scene. The ADL is exceptionally fast when working with interiors, and removes the need to add Portal Lights at windows and openings.

Optimized performance

  • Faster rendering – Render twice as fast with V-Ray Next for SketchUp. Speed and performance optimizations mean faster rendering. Plus, enjoy quicker-than-ever renders with additional GPU-ready features and improved Cloud compatibility.
  • AI denoiser – With the new NVIDIA AI Denoiser, you can instantly remove noise while you render. And with the improved V-Ray Denoiser, you can denoise each render element for even more control in post-production.

What’s New for SketchUp in 2019?

SketchUp Pro 2019 is here, it’s faster and more powerful than ever, with bug fixes, system improvements, and some shiny new features.
Here are a few of the highlights:

SketchUp Pro 2019 for Desktop
You’ll notice an upgrade to your welcome window where you can easily find recent projects and lots of helpful learning content.

Brand new for 2019, SketchUp Pro & LayOut: Layers now have dashes. A much-anticipated feature, dashed lines allow you to simplify your drawings with effective drawing communication. Learn how to use dashed lines and make your drawings communicate more effectively.

The Tape Measure tool got a facelift this year. Now you can see measurement info right where you’re modeling. Model more accurately — and more efficiently — right where you’re working.

LayOut
In both SketchUp and LayOut we have made improvements to our .dwg import and export feature. Including but not limited to support for AutoCAD 2018 file format, increased precision and stability. We added the ability to import and export with materials for better BIM interoperability and workflows using the .dwg format.

The handshake between SketchUp and LayOut has improved by creating an “Export for SketchUp” feature for our .dwg exporter that sends all LayOut entities along with any SketchUp viewport data to the model space. Now any filled shape created in LayOut will be passed over to SketchUp as face ready to be Push/Pull’d. So now, SketchUp & LayOut work even better together.

New for 2019, LayOut will let you know which files are already open so you’re not creating multiple versions. Looks like someone’s projects just got a little bit smarter.

Also new this year, an easy way to learn the basics of LayOut.  It’s time to go 2D: What are you waiting for?

3D Warehouse
With millions of models and 17 languages, it’s not always easy to find exactly what you’re looking for on 3D Warehouse. That’s why we created categories. This update boasts better browsing, search refinement, subcategories, and filtering by real products. This year, 3D Warehouse enables you to spend less time searching and more time creating.

Head to the warehouse to give it a try!

That’s a whole lot of new things for you to explore. Ready for the new SketchUp?
